India has achieved a milestone of crossing 300 GW of non-fossil fuel based installed energy capacity which is nearly 60% of the targeted 500 GW to be achieved by 2030. The Ministry of New and Renewable said that this monumental achievement highlights India’s rapid progress towards atma nirbhar energy ecosystem.
Out of 300 GW installed capacity, solar energy contribution remained highest with 164.59 GW followed by wind power with 58.14 GW, small and large hydropower with 57.24 GW,bio-power with 11.75 GW and 8.78 GW through nuclear power.
The Ministry further said that the clean energy transition is no longer just a climate commitment, it is central to shaping India’s industrial competitiveness, energy independence, and economic resilience.
