Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation from the Red Fort on India’s 80th Independence Day. It was his 13th Independence Day address from the historic venue, with the speech lasting around 76 minutes.
PM Modi said, “Time is ours, opportunity is ours and resolve is ours,” urging citizens to turn dreams into resolve and resolve into achievement while working together to build a developed India.He called on young people to actively participate in the ongoing census, stressing that accurate data is essential for better development planning.For young Indians, the Prime Minister announced a target to train 1 crore youth in AI skills within a year, along with free online coaching for competitive examinations.
PM Modi urged political parties to promote women’s empowerment and ensure 33% representation for women, referring to the Nari Shakti Vandan legislation. He also announced plans to establish a nationwide civil defence network with significant youth participation.
He also announced a nationwide sports talent hunt for children aged 5–15, aimed at identifying and nurturing talent ahead of the 2036 Olympics and making India a “medal powerhouse.”
On technology, PM Modi announced plans for 7–8 new semiconductor plants and said India is moving rapidly towards self-reliance in chip manufacturing.India will target 100 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2047, with five new nuclear reactors expected to become operational in the next six to seven years.PM Modi also set an ambition for Made-in-India 6G to reach every household and for India to emerge as a global leader in 6G technology by 2030.Highlighting innovation, he said a ₹1 lakh crore fund has been created for research and innovation and noted that India now has more than 2.5 lakh startups.
