WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is rumoured to be working on a new cover graphic that looks like it belongs on Facebook.

WhatsApp developer tracker WABetaInfo has discovered the feature.

"WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow you to customise your profile cover photo. This feature is currently in development for WhatsApp Business and will not be available to regular WhatsApp users. According to WABetaInfo, when the feature is activated for beta testers, your Business profile settings will change.

According to an image given by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp plans to add a camera option to users' Business Settings, allowing them to choose an existing photo or create a new one to use as a cover photo.

"As you can see in this screenshot, WhatsApp is planning to introduce a camera button in your Business Settings: you can select a photo or take a new one to use as the cover photo. When other people (including standard WhatsApp user accounts) visit your business profile, they will be able to see your cover photo," WABetaInfo wrote.

When a user from your contact list visits your company page, they will see your newly-set cover photo, as well as your profile photo and status. WhatsApp Business Accounts will soon have the opportunity to customise their cover photos.

"Even if the screenshot is taken from WhatsApp Business for iOS, WhatsApp is planning to introduce the same feature on WhatsApp Business for Android as well. Since the feature is under development, there isn't a known release date, but a new story will be out on this website when the feature is available for beta testers," it added.

Meanwhile, WhatsApp is working on a future upgrade that will include the 'Community' function.

Group admins will have more control over select WhatsApp groups if they join the community.

According to the source, WhatsApp Community functions similarly to a group chat, with group admins having the ability to link other groups in the Community.
