The mixed-doubles pair of Sania Mirza and Rajeev Ram bowed out of the ongoing Australian Open on Tuesday.
The duo was eliminated after losing to Jason Kubler and Jamiee Fourlis in the quarterfinals at the Margaret Court Arena.
In the quarterfinals, Kubler and Fourlis defeated Mirza and Ram 6-4, 7-6.
Mirza and Rajeev Ram of the United States lost the first set and were unable to generate any energy, allowing their opponents to dominate. Mirza and Ram were left with nothing to do in the second set after losing the first.
In the second set, Mirza and Ram, an Indian-American team, took the lead, but Kubler and Fourlis staged a comeback, and the second set was tied at 5-5.
Kubler and Fourlis, on the other hand, retained their composure to win the match and advance to the Grand Slam semi-finals.
Mirza previously stated that the 2022 season will be her final season on the court and that she would retire after that.
