The state yesterday reported 29,836 fresh cases of coronavirus while 75 patients succumbed to the infection in the last 24 hours. The state government also issued additional COVID guidelines, saying special intensified stringent lockdowns will be enforced in the urban wards and panchayats with critical spread where WIPR (weekly infection population ratio) is above seven.
Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla while reviewing the COVID-19 situation in Kerala on Thursday observed that more efforts would be required to arrest the increase in infections.
Earlier this month, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya visited the state and announced a special package of 267.35 crore rupees for Kerala to strengthen its health infrastructure.
