Information and Broadcasting Minister Anurag Singh Thakur will launch a month-long Clean India Programme from Prayagraj today as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav. The aim of the cleanliness drive is to create awareness, mobilize people and ensure their involvement in cleaning waste mainly Single Use Plastic waste throughout the country.

This programme is being organised in six lakh villages of 744 districts across the country through the networks of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan-NYKS affiliated Youth Clubs and National Service Scheme-affiliated institutions. AIR correspondent reports, Union Minister Anurag Singh Thakur will launch Swacch Bharat Abhiyan in a programme organized at the campus of Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology Prayagraj.

Apart from the various departments, public participation will also be ensured in the programme. Many departments including Municipal Corporation, Panchayat Raj, Health Department, Youth Welfare, Forest, Bharat Scouts and Guides have been included in this campaign. To ensure the participation of teachers and students, the Education Department has also been involved. After the launch of campaign, Mr Thakur will also attend a seminar on 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' in Mutthi Ganj area in the town.
