Unauthorized mining and transportation of minerals is closely monitored by a regional team from the Geological Survey of the Department of Mines and Minerals.

On Monday the team uncovered unauthorized mining and transportation of plain sand minerals during a raid conducted in the Narmada river bed at Kothia village in Karjan taluka.

Two loader machines and two trucks loaded with plain sand were found at the spot and seized. They were placed in the custody of lease holder Atul Patel. Geologist Nirav Barot said that approximately items worth 49 lakh has been seized by the team.
