In a crackdown on illicit liquor trafficking, the State Monitoring Cell (SMC) and Bhabhar Police carried out a prohibition raid near Taluka Panchayat Road on the Bhabhar-Radhanpur Highway in Banaskantha district, seizing Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and other items worth ₹32.84 lakh.
Acting on a tip-off, the SMC team intercepted a vehicle transporting IMFL concealed in plastic waste packets.
The raid resulted in the seizure of 1,176 bottles and tins of IMFL, valued at ₹17.05 lakh, along with a vehicle worth ₹15 lakh allegedly used in the smuggling operation.
In addition, police recovered 52 plastic waste covering packets (₹73,514), a mobile phone (₹5,000), and ₹1,440 in cash. The total value of seized property amounts to ₹32.84 lakh.
The truck driver identified as Manoharsingh Mohanlal Lol (Bishnoi) is a resident of Lamba, Jodhpur (Rajasthan).
He was taken into custody and handed over to Bhabhar police Smstation.
Preliminary investigations have revealed that Lol has a prior criminal record, with prohibition cases registered against him in Bagodara police station and Pali police station, Rajasthan.
The case has been registered under various sections of the Gujarat Prohibition Act and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Further investigations are underway to trace the wanted accused and determine the full extent of the smuggling network.
