One person was killed as a major clash erupted in Gujarat's Junagadh district on Friday when a team of civic body officials served a demolition notice to a dargah.
The notice stated that the alleged illegal encroachment would be removed.
A video showed that at least 200-300 people gathered around the dargah on Friday evening who were seen pelting stones at the police officials.
The agitated mob also vandalised a police post and set police vehicles on fire.
Three policemen, including the Deputy Superintendent of Police, were injured in the attack. So far, police have detained 174 people in connection with the violence.
When the mob started pelting stones at the cops, police officials retaliated by firing tear gas shells at the frenzy crowd.
