26 Police personnel from Gujarat have been honoured with Police Medals on Independence Day

As many as 26 police personnel from Gujarat have been honoured with Police Medals Monday ahead of the 77th Independence Day. While two officers have for distinguished service, 18 have been honoured for meritorious services and six won for Excellence in Investigation.

Gujarat Anti Terrorist Squad Superintendent of Police Sunil Joshi is among the officers who got the Excellence in Investigation medal.

Virbhadra Singh Jadeja, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam Ltd Rajkot, and Sardarsinh Baria, a retired police inspector from Valsad, have been recognised for their probe into the rape of a nine year old on February 7, 2020.

The case was chargesheeted in 44 days and the accused was sentenced to death by the court.Hardeepsinh Jhala, a police inspector in Jamnagar, was also recognised in the category for solving the case of abduction and rape of a five year old from Gandhinagar on November 4, 2021.

He filed the chargesheet in 24 days following which the court awarded the death penalty to the accused under the POCSO Act.

Police inspector Nikhil Brahmbhatt posted at the ATS  was awarded for the successful probe into the offence of breach of security at SAC - ISRO and putting the country’s space programme and intellectual property at risk.

Sushil Agrawal, SP, Navsari District, has been recognised for solving the murder of Prafulbhai Mandora in six days following which the accused were awarded life imprisonment. Additional Director General of Police Khursheed Ahmed and intelligence officer Vishalbhai Devshibhai Chauhan.
