Provide first aid training to the doctors and staff of rural government hospitals to protect the children and against covid infection
A possible third wave of covid has been predicted and the risk of infection in children has been estimated. Concerning this, Vadodara District Health System has started multi-faceted pre-preparations under the guidance of District Collector as well as District Development Officer and members of the task force. This includes training all types of staff and arrangement for medical oxygen.
It may be recalled that under the leadership of the District Collector, a special task force has been set up for covid comprising of public health specialists from medical education institutes, specialists in pediatrics and medicine, and senior medical officers. Her guidance is also taken from time to time in pre-preparations.
The third wave outlines various plans, including special training for doctors and health workers, in consultation with experts from the Indian Association of Pediatrics, in a special effort to protect children against the disease.
Giving information in this regard, Chief District Health Officer Dr. Surendra Jain said, it is planned to train more than 180 field doctors including medical officers, staff nurses, AYUSH of the district government hospitals, para medical staff at at the Pediatrics Department of Sayaji, Gotri and Parul Sevashram Hospitals starting from 7th June. It is in view of the need for treatment of infected children and to prevent possible transmission of the disease.
The Chief District Health Officer said that the trained staff is intended to provide local treatment to the children with less severe symptoms in the rural government hospitals of the district and to refer the children to the government hospital in Vadodara who are showing serious effects of the disease.
Under the leadership of the District Collector, Oxygen Concentrators and Cylinders have now been provided to the rural community and primary health centers.
With the help of MLA's grants and service organizations, medical oxygen producing plants and necessary oxygen lines have been set up at Karjan, Dabhoi, Padra, Savli and Mota Fofalia community health centers in the district along with necessary equipment for treatment of children in the community health centers.
Children with malnutrition, congenital malformations are placed in the risk category. As a precautionary measure RBSK of such children and necessary treatment including diagnosis and nutrition has been planned by the team.
In addition, arrangements have been considered to set up isolation centers at taluka level for surveillance, accomodation facilities for parents of children with less severe symptoms and isolated centers in community health centers for children with symptoms.
