Modi Inaugurates Ganga Expressway in UP | Hardoi Rally & Haridwar Expansion Plan

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday inaugurated Uttar Pradesh’s longest expressway, the 594-km Ganga Expressway, from Hardoi. The six-lane (expandable to eight) high-speed corridor passes through 12 districts and is equipped with modern facilities such as trauma centres, food courts, and public convenience hubs.

A 3.5-km airstrip near Shahjahanpur has been developed for Indian Air Force fighter jet operations, including night landings, marking a first-of-its-kind feature in the country. Fuel stations operated by Bharat Petroleum have been installed at regular intervals to support long-distance travel.

During his address, Modi described the expressway as a “lifeline of development” and announced plans to extend it from Meerut to Haridwar, further strengthening regional connectivity.

He also took a political swipe at opposition parties, accusing them of blocking the Women’s Reservation Bill. Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister visited the Kashi Vishwanath Temple in Varanasi, where he offered prayers following a grand roadshow attended by thousands of supporters.
