Two terrorists from the Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) were killed in an encounter with security forces in Jammu and Kashmir's Kulgam area on Tuesday.

The slain two were locals with ties to the LeT, according to Inspector-General of Police Kashmir Vijay Kumar. He claimed they were involved in a number of terrorism-related offences. Terrorists were repeatedly urged to surrender, but they refused and opened fire on authorities, prompting a retaliation that resulted in the deaths of two terrorists, according to IGP Vijay Kumar.

According to a police official overseeing the operation, the joint team of forces set up a cordon and search operation in Okay village of Kulgam district after receiving specific information about the presence of terrorists in the region, which turned into an encounter.

According to the official, two terrorists were killed in a firefight with security troops. It's the third clash in Kashmir in the previous 24 hours. Two LeT terrorists were killed in two different confrontations in Srinagar's Shalimar district by security forces.
