The artisans, primarily from communities that specialize in this trade, are struggling financially as the demand for handmade brooms declines.

Modern cleaning tools like vacuum cleaners and automated solutions have replaced traditional brooms in many households, leading to a significant drop in sales.

Artisans like Parbatbhai, who spend considerable time crafting each broom, earn a mere ₹4-5 per piece, making it increasingly difficult to sustain their livelihoods. Previously, daily sales could reach higher volumes, but now only 50-60 brooms are sold per day, leaving families in financial distress.

The community has appealed to the government to intervene and provide support.

Suggestions include financial aid, skill development programs for alternate livelihoods, and promoting handmade brooms as eco-friendly, sustainable products.

Such measures could not only preserve this traditional craft but also help artisans transition to better economic opportunities.
