As soon as the anti-encroachment team reached there, people started gathering and the numbers swelled quickly. Police and vigilance staff were also accompanying the team.

A huge mob blocked the road demanding that the flags and banners should not be removed as they are allowed in all festivals irrespective of religion.

There was a traffic jam for around 30 minutes and police had to resort to mild lathi charge.

Additional police force was deployed to thwart escalation of tension.
