Gujarat Energy Joint Coordinating Committee, Akhil Gujarat Vidyut Kamdar Sangh and GEB Engineers Association jointly staged protest against the Electricity Amendment Bill in recess time on Wednesday outside the MGVCL office. They said the bill raised question over existence of employees and also effect the general public.
In view of the instructions of All India Power Engineering Federation(AIPEF) and National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers (NCCOEEE), the employees and officers held protest against the Amendment Bill 2021 at every circle, division office and power station on 8th December during the recess time.
The employees and officers shouted slogans against the bill and said it will effect all. "Central Government Energy Department has notified the Electricity Amendment Bill and as a result government is taking all departments of Generation - transmission and distribution companies towards privatisation. The entire state's power network has been set up with a lot of hard work due to which 24 × 7 hours power supply is available in the entire state. To provide cheap electricity to the consumers in the Electricity Bill Act-2003 was not achieved. With the new electricity bill amendment-2021, various subsidies to consumers may be discontinued and electricity prices for agricultural producers may go up," said Girish Joshi Convener Gujarat Energy Joint Coordinating Committee.
He also mentioned other points and said the bill will effect the employees as well as the people.
