Parts of South Gujarat received heavy on Saturday. While water levels in dams in the region are rising, many roads in the region were closed due to water flowing over low bridges.
Water levels in the major dams are rising quickly as it is raining heavily in the catchment area — Maharashtra.
Heavy release of water has been started from the Madhuban dam on the Damanganga river in Valsad, while the water level in Ukai dam on the Tapi is approaching rule level.
In the last 24 hours ended 6am on Saturday, in Valsad district, Vapi received 177mm of rain, Kaprada 162mm, Pardi 117mm, Dharampur 109mm and Umargam 90mm.
In these 24 hours, Navsari district’s Navsari taluka received 63mm of rain, Khergam 61mm, Jalalpore 56mm, and Gandevi 49mm.
