Gujarat Technological University (GTU) recently determined penalties for students caught cheating in summer exams across engineering, pharmacy, MBA, and MCA courses.
Nine of the 341 students caught were let off after the examination committee heard their cases in person.
Level 1 punishment involves cancelling the specific exam result.
Level 2 cancels all subject results for the semester, while Level 3 results in the cancellation of all semester exam results and debarment from the next exam.
Level 4 includes cancellation of all subject results for the semester and debarment from the next three exams.
The harshest Level 5 punishment involves failing all subjects and being barred from exams for the next four semesters.
Of the total, 100 students received Level 2, 186 got Level 3 and two faced Level 4 punishment.
Level 5 was given to two students at Shri Satsangi Saketdham Ashram Institute for using dummy candidates.
It included a case where a female student took an exam in place of a male student.
