A complaint has been lodged against a mob of 25 people, including seven jail staff, for allegedly hurling racial slurs at a inmate of Vadodara Central Jail. Raopura police have registered a case based on the complaint.

Mukesh Damor (resides in Thaladungari village, Zhalod, Dahod) is serving a life sentence in the Central Jail of Vadodara for the crime of murder registered during the year 2013.

According to his complaint, he was kept in a quarantine room in the Central Jail when he returned to the jail after completing his interim bail. On the afternoon of September 24 he was asleep, when Subedar Harshadbhai Parmar, Dinesh Rana, Shivubha Kathi, Bhadresh Jani, Majboot Sinh, Vanrajsinh Chavda and Bhavesh Moradia reached out to him. They hurl racist remarks against him and started beating.

In his complaint he mentioned that they also threatened to kill him by hanging if he went against us. The subedar was accompanied by a mob of 20 to 25 men. The whole incident has also been captured on CCTV cameras.

He also mentioned that other inmates went on hunger strike in support of Mukeshbhai, who was not shifted to the hospital even after he recieved injuries on his body. So he was then shifted to Sayaji Hospital. Prakashbhai Vasava, a prisoner who was undergoing treatment, was also beaten by the people of the weaving department on the same day. Mukeshbhai mentioned about he himself and Prakashbhai were attacked and injured by a mob of 20 to 25 people, including jail staff. Raopura police is further investigating in the case.
