Karan Johar has announced that Koffee With Karan will come to an end after 22 years. The upcoming Season 9 will be the show’s final season, with the new episodes set to stream on JioHotstar from October 14, 2026.
The popular celebrity chat show first began in 2004. Since then, it has completed eight seasons and 161 episodes, featuring several leading names from the Hindi film industry. The show became known for its celebrity conversations, rapid-fire rounds, coffee hampers and moments that frequently became topics of discussion on social media and in entertainment news.
Announcing the final season, Karan Johar described the decision as emotional and personal. He recalled pitching the idea of a celebrity talk show to his father, producer Yash Johar, in 2004. Karan said his father had questioned who would pay to watch him talk to his friends. The first shoot for the show took place on August 16, 2004.
Over the years, the show has witnessed several memorable conversations and controversies involving Bollywood celebrities. Karan also reflected on how terms such as “nepo” and “conjecture” became closely associated with discussions around the show. He said the audience’s continued interest remained an important part of its 22-year journey.
With Season 9, Karan Johar will raise the coffee mug one final time, bringing an end to one of India’s longest-running celebrity chat-show franchises. The complete guest lineup for the final season has not yet been officially announced.
