With growing awareness this year 98% pandals in Vadodara use eco friendly Ganesh idols to celebrate Ganeshotsav. This is the result comes out after the survey by Chhatra Sansad team in Vadodara. They said their aim is to get to 100% and work towards saving the environment.
Over the last six years, Chhatra Sansad have worked relentlessly for the people by running number of initiatives and programmes aimed at empowering youth, raising public awareness, and promoting the holistic development of students and future leaders.
As a part of their initiative Bache Bole Morya they joined hands with Inorbit mall to spread awareness about eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi. Under this initiative over 2000 volunteers visited 3500 pandals throughout the city over the span of one month to conduct awareness campaigns.
They travelled to different communities to connect with people and raise awareness about eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. The volunteers also performed street dramas and nukkad nataks and distributed leaflets from door to door to households, grocery stores, and medical stores, as well as put up posters.
"We held awareness events at all of our city's key crossings and crossroads. Our volunteers also mentored the children of the city's Ganesh idol makers and taught them how to create eco-friendly Ganesh idols. During the last ten days, we also surveyed the pandals to see which ones are sustainable, " Said Kunal Sharma founder Chhatra Sansad.
The team organised a event with acts like Nukkad nataks, flash mobs, and plays. They also honoured our front line warriors, vaccine volunteers and a few Ganesh pandals. With dance performances, the celebration came to a pleasant and joyous conclusion.
The purpose of this programme was to increase awareness about how to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in an environmentally responsible manner. "Our team has worked tirelessly on this initiative for the past three years, and we have together boosted the city's eco-friendly Ganesh Chaturthi rate from 20% to 92%.
Our goal is to attain 100% by the end of the year, making Vadodara the first city in the country to celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi in a completely sustainable manner, " Said Aditya Vegda Vice President Chhatra sansad.
