In an impressive ceremony at Indian Coast Guard (ICG) District HQs at Okha on 31 Dec 2020, Vijaybhai Rupani, Chief Minister of Gujarat inaugurated Indian Coast Guard Married Accommodation, augmenting community living at this remote location.

During his speech, Chief Minister stated that ICG is the pillar strength for fisher folks and active participation of fisherman from Gujarat as ‘eyes and ears’ will strengthen coastal security mechanism. He congratulated ICG for 1700 crores worth narcotics catch in the region, saving youths from drug abuse menace, saving 30 lives and medical evacuation of 03 sick persons at sea during year 2020 amidst COVID-19. 

He expressed his confidence on safe maritime borders with continuous and consistent surveillance at sea by ICG aircraft and marine assets. The Chief Minister was also sanguine and appealed for effective synergy between Indian Coast Guard and state administration.

On completion of ceremony at DHQ Okha, the Chief Minister witnessed the ICG shallow water operations and embarked ICG Hovercraft to review the progress of Signature Bridge. Dignitaries from sister services, district administration, ICG family members and digital/print media personnel were in attendance during the ceremony.
