The crime branch started the extradition process after the US alerted the authorities about Anmol Bishnoi's presence in the country. A special court for cases pertaining to the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) has issued a non-bailable warrant for the his arrest, NDTVquoted police sources as saying.

A report said that in the Salman Khan case chargesheet, Anmol was identified as a wanted accused. Following this, a Red Corner Notice (RCN) was issued, based on which US alerted Indian authorities about Anmol’s presence in the country.

In the absence of Lawrence Bishnoi, who is in Gujarat's Sabarmati Jail now after his arrest in a cross-border drug smuggling bust, Anmol is believed to be behind the major operations by the gang, including the firing outside Khan’s house in April this year.

Anmol’s name has also come up in connection with the recent murder of NCP (Ajit Pawar) leader and former MLA Baba Siddique. Anmol had allegedly spoken to the accused who shot the leader.

The National Investigation Agency had recently announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh on Anmol, who has 18 cases against him. He is also alleged to have given weapons and logistics support to the accused who killed Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala in 2022.
