Emraan Hashmi’s romantic action drama Awarapan 2 has emerged as the clear winner at the box office after releasing in theatres on August 14.
The film, which clashed with Sunny Deol-starrer Batwara 1947, delivered a strong opening over the Independence Day weekend.According to the makers, Awarapan 2 earned Rs 23.40 crore on Day 1, followed by Rs 34.09 crore on Saturday and Rs 26.82 crore on Sunday in India. The film maintained strong momentum throughout the weekend.
The sequel has also performed well in overseas markets. Its worldwide box office collection has reached Rs 120.86 crore, according to the makers.
With its strong weekend performance, Awarapan 2 has established itself as the major box-office success of the Independence Day weekend, outperforming its theatrical clash with Batwara 1947.
