Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), the digital technology arm of Reliance Industries, is preparing to enter the stock market with an initial public offering (IPO) worth ₹30,213 crore. The IPO is scheduled to open for subscription from October 21 to October 23, 2026, with a price band of ₹1,065 to ₹1,119 per share. The offering comes as the company looks to strengthen its position in India’s rapidly expanding digital economy.Market research reports identify several potential growth drivers for Jio Platforms, including the shift from 2G to 4G and 5G services, rising demand for home broadband, artificial intelligence (AI), enterprise cloud solutions and the sale of telecom technology to international operators. These opportunities could help the company expand beyond traditional mobile connectivity and develop new sources of revenue.
Millions of Users Offer Scope for 4G and 5G Growth
Jio had 533.3 million customers as of June 2026, including 284.9 million 5G users. Meanwhile, an estimated 261 million mobile users across the Indian telecom industry were still using 2G services, creating a potential market for affordable smartphones and upgraded connectivity plans.
The company could attract more customers through budget-friendly devices, including JioBharat phones, and affordable recharge plans. Jio’s average revenue per user (ARPU) increased from ₹181.7 in FY2024 to ₹215.6 in the first quarter of FY2027. Monthly data consumption also reached 43.7 GB, reflecting growing demand for digital services.
India’s Digital Economy Creates Long-Term Opportunities
India’s growing internet usage, expanding 5G networks and increasing demand for broadband services are creating new opportunities for telecom and digital companies. Industry estimates cited in market research suggest that average mobile broadband revenue per user in India could rise from ₹199.5 in FY2026 to ₹326.4 by FY2031.
Jio’s strategy centres on increasing its customer base, improving average revenue per user, expanding digital services and diversifying income through technology solutions. However, the company’s future performance will depend on its ability to execute these plans and convert growing digital demand into sustainable earnings.
The IPO is therefore attracting attention not only because of its size but also because it could offer investors exposure to the next phase of India’s digital transformation. Investors should assess the company’s valuation, financial performance, business risks and IPO documents before making an investment decision.
