A digital media platform for farmers to answer their queries, all season portable tractor for easy use in farming, battery charging facility for electric vehicles, robotic technology to clean solar panels are some of the innovations awarded in 16th FGI awards in Vadodara. The ceremony saw the best practices and ideas implemented in respective fields with a futuristic approach.

FGI had instituted FGI Awards for Excellence during their Platinum Jubilee Year (1993) with the objective to honour and recognize individuals, NGOs, Institutions and Industries located in the State of Gujarat. On taking a fresh look at the contemporary relevance of the awards,the 16th FGI Awards for Excellence comprised of 14 awards categories.

Digital Agrimedia from Gandhinagar gets The outstanding innovation in the field of Agriculture or Food Processing award for it technology for farmers. Managing Director Jagdish Dhanani said, the Agrimedia Tv gives a digital platform to the farmers where they get their queries answered by the experts.

The aim is to fill the gap between technology and farmers through technology and gives them a instant solution. The questions will be answered in 24 hours and presently 1,35000 members are there from all across the country. He said the aim is to connect all farmers of the country and spread it internationally.

One more awardee in the same category is Captain Tractors Private Limited from Rajkot for designing a portable tractor for farmers. Director Satish Movaliya said the mini tractor gives small and marginal farmers a strong option against the traditional big ones. The mini tractor is cost effective, less operation cost and they make implementation to make it a all season to work in the fields even during monsoon.

Other than this the FGI present awards in 14 different catagories. The FGI Awards for Excellence represents the vision of the Federation to recognize and encourage individuals and industries which strive for and achieve excellence in their
respective fields of endeavor.

For determining the recipient of each of the coveted Awards for Excellence, the Federation has ensured total and absolute objectivity by clearly defining individual criterias and having a separate Jury for each category.

The Jury Committee, for deciding each Award for Excellence, was headed by its individual Chairperson and members comprised of eminent independent individuals who are experts in the
specific areas. The Federation had ensured that there is wide spread participation for these awards from all sections of the society and business, and left no stone unturned to reach out and draw applicants from all regions of the State of Gujarat.The FGI received 260 entries for the 16 FGI Awards.

The 16th FGI awards were distributed in form of trophies and certificate plaques. In respect to Social Welfare / Rural Development by Individual, NGO or Institution, FGI presented the winner a sum of Rs. 50,000/to meet part of their expenses for such outstanding work done on their own.

At the last FGI Awards for Excellence 2018 function, they had Maneka Gandhi, Minister for Women & Child Development, Govt. of India as Chief Guest. The FGI Awards Function has always had national luminaries as the Chief Guest, such as Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India, Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India, Dr. Montek Singh Ahiuwalia, Deputy Chairman, Planning Commission, Government of India, Dr. Manmohan Singh, the then Finance Minister of India, Dr. I.G. Patel and other dignitaries.
