Prime Minister Narendra Modi invoked the ideals of ‘Ram Rajya’ during Vijayadashami celebrations in Delhi on October 20, 2026, emphasising justice, equality, public welfare and self-reliance. He said good governance should ensure equal opportunities for all citizens and prioritise the welfare of the poor and underprivileged.

Addressing the gathering, Modi called on political parties and national institutions to unite in the national interest. He also warned against forces that divide society, undermine India’s dignity or express hatred towards the country’s culture.

Drawing lessons from Lord Rama’s journey to Lanka, the Prime Minister highlighted the importance of collective effort, determination and faith in India’s own capabilities. He linked these ideals to the vision of a self-reliant and developed India, urging citizens to work together towards national progress.
