Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has said that the US military shot down an "unidentified object" over Canadian airspace on his orders.

This is the third such incident in a week and comes a day after a US jet shot down another unidentified object over Alaska on Saturday.
A US F-22 fighter jet had shot down a suspected Chinese surveillance balloon on February 4.
According to the US search team, the suspected spy balloon shot down on February 8 was 60m tall.
A readout of a call between Trudeau and US President Joe Biden too said that both leaders authorised the take-down of the object. They also "discussed the importance of recovering the object in order to determine more details on its purpose or origin."
Pentagon spokesman Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder too confirmed the incident stating that the object was first noticed over Alaska on Friday evening.
A statement, carried by sources, added that two F-22 fighter jets monitored the object with the help of the Alaska Air National Guard tracking it closely and taking time to characterize the nature of the object.
On Friday, a US fighter jet shot down an unidentified object, the size of 'a small car', over Alaska.
According to White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby, Joe Biden ordered the military to down the object, floating at 40,000 feet, as it was a threat to civil aviation.
The purpose or origin of the object was not yet clear and it was first detected on Thursday using ground radars.
