Amid rising trade tensions, former U.S. President Donald Trump’s team has expressed optimism that the ongoing tariff issues with India can be resolved. Referring to the long-standing trade imbalance, Trump had earlier labeled U.S.-India trade as a "one-sided disaster," criticizing India's high tariffs for restricting American exports.

A spokesperson from Trump's team stated, “Two great nations will get this solved,” signaling hope for a breakthrough in negotiations.

Meanwhile, tensions with Russia remain high. A senior U.S. official has warned Moscow of further sanctions if the Kremlin continues its military aggression in Ukraine. Despite a high-profile meeting between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Anchorage, Alaska, and follow-up discussions involving European leaders and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the White House, Russia has intensified its bombing campaign.

“Everything is on the table,” said the official, Bessent. “Since the historic meeting and phone calls, Putin has only escalated attacks in a despicable manner, going against the spirit of peace efforts.”

The Trump administration is reportedly considering additional punitive measures against Moscow as the conflict between Russia and Ukraine shows no signs of de-escalation.
