To commemorate the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the Iron Man of India, Western Railway’s vigilance department observed Vigilance Awareness Week from 27th October, 2020 to 2nd November, 2020. It’s worth mentioning that 31st October is celebrated every year as National Unity Day to commemorate the birth anniversary of the Iron Man Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who played an important role in India’s freedom movement and persuaded the 565 princely states to accede to independent India.
On the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Week, integrity pledge was administered by Alok Kansal – General Manager of Western Rly to Officers and Staff during his inspection of Ratlam Division. Officers & staff pledged that they will not be part of any corrupt practice & maintain highest standards of Integrity. On this occasion, at WR HQ office at Churchgate, Additional General Manager of Western Railway administered the integrity pledge to all officers and staff of Western Railway through video conferencing. Thereafter, he also inaugurated an e-exhibition on vigilance & anti-corruption aspects.
According to a press release issued by WR CPRO Sumit Thakur, an e-Seminar on the theme ‘Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat (Vigilant India , Prosperous India) was also organized in which the key note address was delivered by the Chief Guest Sanjay Bhatia (Retd. IAS) who is currently the Uplokayukta of Maharashtra State. An “e-Vigilance Bulletin 2020” was jointly released by the Chief Guest, Additional General Manager & Senior Deputy General Manager for circulation to field officers.
Thakur stated that during the entire week, various activities like essay writing competition, slogan writing competition, interactive sessions and lectures were organised all over Western Railway Divisions & in Workshops on the theme ‘Satark Bharat, Samriddh Bharat (Vigilant India, Prosperous India).
