Caught seven gamblers, including the hotel manager
Vadodara crime branch busted a gambling den running at Shakti Hotel near Kapurai Chokdi. Police nabbed seven gamblers, including a hotel manager, and seized Rs 3.3 lakhs from them.
Elections for Vadodara Municipal Corporation are to be held in the coming days and police is already working on to eradicate alcohol and gambling activity. Meanwhile, the crime branch police had received definite information that Mahavirbhai Jaywantbhai Parvadia, the manager of Shakti Hotel, was running gambling on the fourth floor of the Dwarkesh building on the highway near Kapurai Chokdi.
On the basis of which the police raided the place and caught Brijlal Madanbhai Patel, Mit Shirishbhai Patel, Chandreshbhai Kanabhai Makwana, Ghanshyambhai Mahadevbhai Bhadaliya, Kishore Dharamdas Patel, Jaywantbhai Bhikhabhai Parvadiya, Mahavir Bhai Raghubhai Dabhi (all living in Vadodara) for gambling.
During the raid, police seized Rs 1.37 lakh in cash, six mobile phones and four bikes, total worth 3.33 lakhs. Police have registered a case under the Gambling Act.
In another incident, a team of Vadodara city PCB police got definite information that Prashant alias Bunty (resides at Rasuljini Chali, FCI Godown, Sayajiganj, Vadodara) was playing Worli Matka on his mobile phone near Concord Building on RC Dutt Road. Based on which, the police raided and arrested Prashant. Two mobile phones and Rs 10,850 in cash, a print with digital statistics and a scooter were found from his possession.
