In a landmark development aimed at improving last-mile connectivity, Uber has partnered with Indian Railways to launch its first-ever managed ride operations at Ahmedabad and Howrah railway stations.
The initiative, announced by the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Ahmedabad on social media, is being hailed as a major step towards enhancing the travel experience for millions of daily railway commuters. The DRM noted that the partnership would provide safe, reliable, and hassle-free transport options directly from the stations.
As part of the agreement, Uber will operate from dedicated, station-integrated parking zones, enabling smoother coordination between riders and drivers. This setup is expected to cut down waiting times, improve convenience for passengers, and boost earnings for driver-partners.
This collaboration represents Uber’s first managed service at Indian railway stations, and is expected to set a precedent for similar models in other parts of the country. The move aligns with broader goals to modernize urban mobility and ensure efficient public-private coordination in the transport sector.
