Many accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Telegram have been blocked by the government for disseminating altered videos of a cabinet meeting.

Several videos from the Ministry of Information and Technology (MeitY) have been circulating on social media, including the most recent altered footage reportedly showing a cabinet briefing with superimposed audio.

73 Twitter identities, four YouTube videos, and one Instagram game that were reportedly spreading false or hostile content have been suspended or removed, according to the report. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology, tweeted.

He noted that the persons who hold these accounts are being identified and will face legal action, as well as that these social media networks would be judged on their due diligence.

The government has also taken action against Facebook profiles and Telegram channels that have been identified to be posting anti-women propaganda.

It has contacted Twitter, Facebook, and Telegram, requesting that action be made against such accounts as soon as possible.
