Jaipur Airport Hit by Storm: Flights Diverted, Passengers Stranded
Severe weather conditions disrupted flight operations at Jaipur International Airport on Monday night, causing widespread delays, diversions, and passenger inconvenience. Strong winds, thunderstorms, and poor visibility made landing conditions unsafe, forcing several pilots to keep aircraft in holding patterns or divert them to alternate airports.
An aircraft operated by Etihad Airways from Abu Dhabi faced significant delay as it arrived over Jaipur at 7:35 PM but could not land due to adverse conditions. The flight circled the airspace for nearly 45 minutes, completing multiple loops before finally landing safely after weather conditions improved slightly.
Similarly, an Air India Express flight (IX-1219) from Mumbai was unable to land as scheduled and was eventually diverted to Delhi after extended holding. An IndiGo flight (6E-7131) from Ahmedabad also faced delays and was later diverted to Delhi when the situation failed to improve.
Another IndiGo flight (6E-7745) from Indore was forced to return to its origin after prolonged holding in Jaipur airspace, leaving passengers stranded and disrupting travel plans.
Meanwhile, an Air India flight (AI-413) from Mumbai made an attempted landing but had to execute a go-around maneuver immediately after touching the runway due to unsafe conditions. The aircraft remained airborne for nearly an hour before successfully landing.
An additional IndiGo flight (6E-749) from Guwahati also remained in holding for approximately 45 minutes before being cleared to land.
Airport authorities reported that visibility dropped drastically during the storm, making it difficult for pilots to identify runway alignment. Safety protocols required aircraft to either hold or divert, leading to cascading delays.
The disruption caused significant inconvenience to passengers, many of whom faced long waiting hours both onboard and at airports. Travelers diverted to Delhi had to arrange alternative transport or accommodations, turning the night into a stressful experience for many.
