India's star shuttler PV Sindhu has pulled out of the upcoming BWF World Championships owing to a stress fracture on her left foot. In a statement, Sindhu confirmed that she will be missing the 2022 World Championships.

The World Championships will be held in Tokyo from August 21 till August 28. Sindhu has won the gold medal in the women's singles event at the recently-concluded Commonwealth Games and revealed that she had been playing through pain at Birmingham.

Sindhu added a CWG singles gold to her wide array of medals with a convincing straight-game win over Canada's Michelle Li.
