India will take on Bangladesh in their opening match of the Women’s Junior Asia Cup hockey at Muscat in Oman today.

The Indian Junior Women’s Team is being led by Captain Jyoti Singh, with Sakshi Rana serving as Vice-Captain.

 In a Pool B match, Japan thrashed Sri Lanka, 15-Nil. Ten teams are participating in the continental showpiece. Defending champions India have been placed in Group A along with China, Malaysia, Thailand, and Bangladesh, while Pool B will feature South Korea, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong, and Sri Lanka.
The Junior Asia Cup is a qualifying event for the FIH Junior World Cup, to be held next year in Chile. The top five teams from the competition will qualify for the World Cup.
