Mumbai, August 3: Ryan Group of Schools, in collaboration with the Indian Debating League (IDL), concluded the 4th edition of the Mumbai Speech & Debate League 2026, bringing together over 500 students from more than 50 cities across India.

Held at Ryan International School, Malad West, the championship featured nationwide qualifiers followed by the semi-finals and grand finale under the theme “The Media, The Magic, and the Pop Culture Point of View.” Students competed in the World Schools Debating Championship (WSDC), After Dinner Speech and Dramatic Adaptation events, showcasing their public speaking, critical thinking and leadership skills.

The event was attended by education and media leaders, including Sonal Pinto, Director of Ryan Group of Institutions, and Kamal Kashyap, Co-Founder of the Indian Debating League. Among the top winners were Bombay Scottish School, Mahim, Jamnabai Narsee International School, Shiv Nadar School, Noida, Indus International School, Pune, and Sri Sankara Senior Secondary School, Chennai.

The organizers also announced registrations for the Harvard College Debating Union World Schools India Invitationals 2026, to be held in Jaipur from August 14–16. The tournament will select five teams to represent India at Harvard University in April 2027. Registrations are open until August 7 for students of Grades 6–12.

The Indian Debating League (IDL) is India’s largest school-level debating platform, dedicated to developing students’ critical thinking, communication and leadership skills. It has engaged over 98,400 students across 1,050 schools through national and international debate tournaments and coaching programmes, helping young minds become confident speakers and future leaders.
