The state government has announced that schools closed for the last eight months due to the Corona epidemic will now reopen after Diwali. However, parents in Vadodara are not ready to send their children in school at the risk of their lives. They also made allegations against the state government’s statistics on the corona virus as incorrect.
State Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama today announced the opening of schools for students from November 23 for standard 9th to 12th following the strict Covid guidelines and SOP declared by the government. Though parents in Vadodara have unanimously opposed the decision and are not ready to risk the lives of children for study even if one year is wasted. Parents will not send their children to school during the year 2020-21.
Manishaben Parmar, a parent from Vadodara said, her son is studying in 9th standard and the government has announced to open the school after Diwali. It’s risky as students don’t have such awareness regarding the virus and might catch it easily. Secondly it will later hard to control just like many places in the world. She is not ready to risk life of her child and ask the government to reconsider their decision about opening schools.
Another parent Sanjay Page whose son is studying in 11th standard said, the state government has announced the opening of schools, but has not announced any SOP. He will not send his child to school until the SOP is announced. There is currently a fear of contracting the corona virus and the health of children needs to be given priority.
