Sabarmati Becomes Ahmedabad’s Main Rail Gateway to North India

Amid the massive redevelopment of Kalupur Railway Station, Sabarmati Railway Station has decisively taken over as Ahmedabad’s new rail powerhouse for North India, with most trains to Delhi, Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir and other northern routes now originating and terminating here. Completely revamped to handle the surge, Sabarmati now boasts a modern two-storey station with wide four-lane access roads, segregated lanes for private vehicles and taxis, dedicated pick-up and drop-off zones, and seamless connectivity alongside the Bullet Train project corridor.

Inside, passengers are met with upgraded ticket counters, ATVM machines, multiple lifts, escalators, large LED information screens, and spacious waiting halls across two floors—equipped with charging points, dormitory facilities, clean drinking water and ample seating. Platforms are barely 50 metres away, ensuring swift movement, while separate exits for paid parking and public transport have streamlined traffic flow.

With rising passenger footfall and world-class amenities now in place, Sabarmati is no longer a backup station—it has aggressively emerged as Ahmedabad’s primary railway gateway to North India, reshaping the city’s rail map during Kalupur’s transformation.
