Political Face-Off at AI Summit: Congress Protest Draws BJP’s Nationwide Counter-Mobilisation

A major political confrontation erupted after members of the Indian Youth Congress allegedly disrupted the India AI Impact Expo 2026 at Bharat Mandapam, triggering nationwide protests by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

BJP Yuva Morcha workers staged demonstrations outside the Congress office and the residence of Rahul Gandhi in Delhi, raised slogans, burned posters, and held placards demanding an apology, while protests were also reported from Mumbai, Surat, Telangana, Rajasthan and Jammu & Kashmir. In Mulund, BJP workers showed black flags to Rahul Gandhi’s convoy as he travelled to Bhiwandi for a court appearance linked to past remarks about the RSS.

Police arrested four Youth Congress members — Krishna Hari, Kundan Yadav, Ajay Kumar and Narasimha Yadav — and produced them before the Patiala House Court, seeking custody and alleging that anti-national slogans were raised at the summit in the presence of international delegates, with three policemen reportedly injured.

The accused’s lawyer argued that the protest was peaceful and within constitutional rights, calling the FIR politically motivated, while the court reserved its order on custody and bail. Senior BJP leaders, including MP Manoj Tiwari and other state leaders, strongly condemned the disruption, calling it anti-national, further intensifying the political face-off between the ruling party and Congress.
