The
inaugural ceremony for Kaafila 2020 at the Faculty of Journalism and
Communication (FJC), M.S. University, Vadodara, began on 13th February, 2020 in
the seminar hall of the faculty. The event welcomed its students, teachers,
alumni and dignitaries with great pomp.

It began
with the university song, followed by welcoming the dignitaries, P. S. Chari
(veteran theatre professional), Adil Marawala (senior alumni-FJC), Sachin
Kaluskar (senior alumni-FJC), Malti, Gaekwad (senior visual communication
professional) Margi Sastry (senior media professional), Mandakini Jha (senior
professor – MSU)along with the University General Secretary (UGS) Rakesh
Punjabi and the Vice President of the Student’s Union Ms. Kaksha Patel. The
guests were felicitated with a token of appreciation for their valued presence
during the event. 

The Head
and Dean of the Faculty, Prof. (Dr.) Niti Chopra addressed and welcomed the
guests and spoke about the faculty and its glorious journey over a period of 28
years and how the faculty festival initiated by the name of Razzmatazz in 2007
was rechristened Kaafila in 2018 signifiying a bandwagon that takes everyone
along on a creative, intellectual journey. Post Prof. Chopra’s address, the
invited dignitaries expressed their views about the faculty and its
contribution to the media education scenario in Gujarat. 

A prayer
dance was performed on the occasion by an under-graduate student of the
faculty. An interesting, creative resume of the faculty was presented by one of
the students, providing expression to the FJC family and its journey of 28
years. Towards the closing of the inaugural ceremony, the final year
undergraduate and postgraduate students of the faculty were felicitated as the
entire faculty wished them best for their future professional endeavours.

It was followed by “Naam Hai Shahenshah” (Ad
Screening) which will be judged by Deepak Foundation. For this event, the teams
were given a product (instant khichdi) for which they have to create a creative
advertisement video. The results will be declared on 15th February 2020.
