PM Modi pays tribute to Kakori heroes on 100th Anniversary

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid tributes to the revolutionaries of Kakori incident.

In a social media post, PM Modi said, on this day, a hundred years ago, the courage shown by patriotic Indians at Kakori highlighted the resentment among people against colonial rule.

He said, they were angry at the manner in which people’s money was being used to further colonial exploitation. 

The Prime Minister said, their valour will always be remembered by the people of India. He said, Government will keep working to fulfil their dreams for a strong and prosperous India.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said the ‘Kakori Train Action’ was a symbol of courage, sacrifice, and patriotism in the Indian freedom struggle.
In a social media post, Amit Shah said, on August 9, 1925, brave heroes like Ramprasad Bismili, Chandrashekhar Azad and Ashfaqulla Khan ignited the torch of revolution against British looting, shaking the foundations of the British Empire. 
He said, with the aim that the wealth looted from Indians by the British should be used for the nation’s welfare, these valiant fighters carried out the Kakori Train Action.
The Home Minister said the nation will forever remain indebted to the bravery and valour of these fighters.
 It was the same day in 1925 when one of the most remarkable event of the Indian freedom movement took place near Kakori railway station.
On 9th August, the revolutionaries of Hindustan Republican Association (HRA) stopped the Number 8 down train near Kakori and looted the money from the guard cabin belonging to the British Government Treasury.
The Revolutionaries include Ram Prasad Bismil, Ashfaqullah Khan, Thakur Roshan Singh, Rajendranath Lahiri and Sachindranath Sanyal.

The objectives of this robbery were to fund the HRA with the money of British administration taxed from the Indians and to protest against the British administration collecting a lot of tax from the Indian people.
