As Bihar gears up for the first phase of Assembly elections, top leaders from both the NDA and the Grand Alliance hit the campaign trail today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the NDA’s campaign with a rally in Samastipur, while RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav promised job creation and regularisation of contractual employees in a counter outreach.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi began the National Democratic Alliance’s election campaign in Samastipur, addressing a massive gathering at the Dudhpoora Helipad Grounds. Paying tribute to socialist icon Jan Nayak Karpoori Thakur, Mr. Modi called him a “priceless gem of the nation” and credited him for pioneering social justice in India.
Earlier, the Prime Minister visited Karpoori Gram, the birthplace of the former Chief Minister, where he offered floral tributes. He reaffirmed the NDA government’s commitment to accelerating development in Bihar and empowering the poor and marginalised sections.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Union Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi also addressed the rally, highlighting the NDA’s achievements and promising continuity in governance and infrastructure growth.
Later in the day, the Prime Minister is scheduled to address another public meeting in Begusarai.
The BJP’s top campaigners are spread across the state — Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to address rallies in Siwan and Buxar, while Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will hold a meeting in Gopalganj in support of NDA candidates.
On the opposition front, RJD leader and Grand Alliance’s chief ministerial candidate Tejashwi Prasad Yadav said in Patna that if voted to power, his government would make contractual employees permanent and take concrete steps to address unemployment in Bihar.
