Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India is on the path to becoming the world’s third-largest economy.

Therefore, India must remain vigilant about its economic interests.

He was addressing the gathering after laying down the foundation stone and inaugurating the development works worth around 2,200 crore rupees in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, yesterday.

PM Modi highlighted that the global economy is currently facing multiple uncertainties and an atmosphere of instability. In such a scenario, nations across the world are focusing on their interests.

The Prime Minister said that citizens also have certain responsibilities. He urged everyone to take a pledge for Swadeshi. He defined Swadeshi as anything made with the sweat and effort of an Indian, calling upon the nation to adopt the mantra of “Vocal for Local.”

The Prime Minister urged citizens to pledge to promote “Make in India” products. Mr Modi said that every new item entering our homes must be Swadeshi, and this responsibility must be embraced by every Indian.

The Prime Minister appealed to every trader and shopkeeper to take a vow to sell only Swadeshi products, affirming that this would be true service to the nation.

He urged the people to use Swadeshi products in the upcoming festival season and added that this would be a true tribute to Mahatma Gandhi
