According to officials, the accident occurred when one of the bus drivers reportedly lost control due to brake failure, causing a chain collision near Chandrakona Yatri Langar on the Jammu-Srinagar highway.

Rescue teams from the Police and Health Department responded quickly, and the injured were promptly shifted to Ramban district hospital.

Ramban Deputy Commissioner Ilyas Khan visited the hospital and confirmed that all 25 injured pilgrims received first aid and are now being discharged. “Alternate transport arrangements have been made to ensure the pilgrims can continue their journey,” officials stated.

Massive Yatra Turnout and Tight Security

The 38-day-long Amarnath Yatra began on July 3, and in just two days, over 26,800 pilgrims have undertaken the sacred journey.

On Saturday, a fresh batch of 6,979 pilgrims departed from Bhagwati Nagar Yatri Niwas in Jammu in two escorted convoys comprising 312 vehicles.

Unprecedented Security Measures

Security for this year's pilgrimage is exceptionally tight, following the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam’s Baisaran meadow, where Pakistan-backed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorists killed 26 civilians, targeting victims based on their faith.

To ensure safety:

  • 180 additional companies of Central Armed Police Forces have been deployed.
  • Army, BSF, SSB, CRPF, and local police are jointly securing the entire route.
  • The Jammu-Baltal and Jammu-Pahalgam roads, as well as the trekking paths to the holy cave, are under constant 24/7 surveillance.

Authorities have urged pilgrims to remain vigilant and cooperate with security protocols throughout the journey.
