At least ten people have died and 34 have been injured in a head-on collision of a private bus with a truck on the Sinnar-Shirdi highway in Nashik district of Maharashtra.

Sources reports, the fatal mishap took place at 6 am on Friday. The injured passengers have been admitted to various private hospitals in Sinnar.

The bus had a total of 50 passengers and they belonged from Ambernath and Ulhasnagar localities in Thane district.

Among those killed include six women, two men and two children. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has expressed grief on the accident and has announced an ex-gratia of five lakh rupees to the each victims.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed grief over the loss of lives in an accident on the Nashik-Shirdi highway. He prayed for a quick recovery of the injured.

Prime Minister has announced an ex-gratia of two lakh rupees from Prime Minister's National Relief Fund to be given to the next of kin of each deceased and 50,000 rupees to the injured.
