A tragic helicopter collision in Nepal’s Solukhumbu district has claimed the life of an Indian national, while another Indian tourist sustained injuries. The incident has raised concerns about aviation safety in the popular Himalayan tourism region.

The accident occurred at around 8:11 AM on Tuesday (November 3) at Pheriche helipad, located near the Mount Everest Base Camp. The helicopters belonged to two private aviation companies, Fishtail Air and Dynasty Air. According to reports, their rotor blades struck each other as they approached the helipad, causing both aircraft to crash. The deceased was identified as 47-year-old Indian national Vasanth Kumar Balaramaramadu. Another passenger, Shailesh Krishna Patel, an Indian-origin New Zealand citizen, was injured and airlifted to Mediciti Hospital in Kathmandu for treatment. The pilots also sustained injuries, according to reports.

Nepal frequently uses helicopters to transport trekkers, mountaineers and tourists across its mountainous regions. However, high altitude, difficult terrain and unpredictable weather make flying operations challenging. Authorities are investigating the cause of the collision.
