The Congress leaders and workers, led by Bharuch City Congress president Vicky Sokhi, Opposition Leader Shamshad Ali Saiyed, and Hemandra Kothiwala, stormed the Bharuch Nagarpalika headquarters in Bharuch town and sat on dharna outside the offices of the Chief Officer and the president, demanding immediate repairs to city roads damaged by heavy rains.

Protesters chanted anti-BJP slogans in response to the Bharuch Nagarpalika's failure to conduct pre-monsoon activities.

Last week's torrential rains in Bharuch district wreaked havoc. Due to heavy water logging, there are mounds of filth on the roadside, and the majority of the roads in areas such as Hajikhana Bazar, Dumwad, Sevashram Road, Furza crossroads, Dholikui Bazar, Kasak, and Maktampura have been severely damaged.

According to Congress leaders, the residents have been in a hellish situation for the past week.

Residents are having nightmares due to potholed roads, and there are daily scenes of traffic jams on the city's aerial roads.

"Bharuch Nagarpalika always cares about facilitating the residents of Bharuch," said Amit Chavda, president of Bharuch Nagarpalika.

Torrential rains continued for four days in Bharuch, dumping more than 10 inches of water and causing heavy waterlogging and flooding in low-lying areas. This exacerbated the damage to the city's roads. We will begin the road repair work on a war footing."
