Mehta, the president of MICA, named vice-chairman of the IIAS governing board
Indian government has re-established the Society of the IIAS, Shimla, with Dr. Mehta and 26 other professionals as members
Dr Shailendra Raj Mehta, President and Director of MICA, Ahmedabad, has been named Vice-Chairman of the Governing Body of the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS), Shimla, by the Union Ministry of Education.
Furthermore, the Indian government has re-established the Society of the IIAS, Shimla, with Dr. Mehta and 26 other professionals as members. The reconstituted Governing Body will convene for the first time on Thursday.
Chaman Lal Gupta, officiating director of IIAS, remarked in an email to Dr. Mehta, "I feel extremely happy to inform you that the Union Ministry of Education, dated December 30, 2021, has nominated you as the Vice-Chairman of its Governing Body."
This position comes nearly a year after Dr. Mehta was named to the Mission High-Level Committee (MHLC) of the Indian Knowledge System by the Ministry of Education, Government of India (IKS).
The Institute of Advanced Study in the Humanities and Social Sciences (IIAS) is a leading research institute for advanced study in the humanities and social sciences. It was renamed Rashtrapati Niwas after independence, and Dr S Radhakrishnan chose to build the Indian Institute of Advanced Study in 1965. (IIAS). Between 1888 until 1946, the Indian Institute of Advanced Study (IIAS) at Shimla housed the British administration in a building dating from the 18th century.
Dr. Mehta formerly served as Chairman of the Board of Management and Acting Vice-Chancellor of Auro University and Provost/Vice-Chancellor of Ahmedabad University. In addition, he served as a Visiting Professor of Business Policy at the Indian Institute of Management in Ahmedabad.
Prior to that, he taught Economics and Strategic Management at Purdue University for 16 years. He co–founded Simulex Inc., a high–tech company at the Purdue Research Park, while at Purdue, and he continues to coach and promote entrepreneurs.
Dr. Mehta has conducted considerable research in the fields of entrepreneurship, industrial organisation, information economics, and experimental economics over the years.
