The office of Ward No. 8 in Nagarwada area of ​​Vadodara city was vandalised by the people of Mali Maholla situated in front of the office. People irked with the cases of diarrhea and vomiting due to drinking contaminated water and rushed to the ward office. Police reached the spot and control the situation.

As per available details, Mali Mahallo is located in front of the office of Administrative Ward No. 8 in Nagarwada area. Contaminated water had been coming into this area for some time now. Locals made representations to the ward office several times to resolve the issue, but it is unresolved. More than 20 people, including children, have been suffering from diarrhea, vomiting and fever due to the contaminated water and it irked the locals.

It is said that the locals rushed to the ward office to make representation to the ward officer over the death of a woman due to diarrhea and vomiting. However the officer was not there and the mob smashed furniture including computers, tables and chairs.

A team of Karelibaug police station reached the office before the incident get out of control and control the situation. Traffic on the road was also disrupted by mobs outside the office.

On the other hand, after several submissions, the system, which did not solve the problem of contaminated water, started sending water tankers to Mali Maholla after the incident. The teams started collecting samples and the health team was also instructed to go house to house for treatment.

Locals allege that three people have died in the past one week due to drinking contaminated water, and more than 20 people are being treated at the hospital. However, the issue of contaminated water in Mali Maholla has not been resolved by the system and it took the violent turn on Thursday.

Shailesh Naik, deputy commissioner of the corporation, said that the issue of contaminated water has been on the rise for the last two days. No one dies from sudden diarrhea or vomiting. Yet it will be investigated by the system.
